We talked about plot stealing in the last post. Now, I’m going to increase my thievery. We can even steal characters. Wow, that’s hard to hear. For some reason there’s the writers’ hubris that we must birth everything from our literary wombs.
That’s insane. How many times in an interview has the question been asked: “So where did you get your inspiration?” I’ve heard all types of artists respond by saying, “I modeled this after that.”

When it comes to understanding the main character, a lot of times it’s difficult to near impossible to figure out what characteristics are actually “likable” and what characteristics are despised by readers.
Honestly, this doesn’t vary much from genre to genre, and quite frankly, it doesn’t vary from male characters to female characters.
Will there be some subtleties in how likability is executed from a female character to a male character? Of course, there are some keys that will ensure that your readers won’t roll their eyes at the characters you’ve developed.

So, THE GIRL WITH THE SCAR is set to be released soon, though my publisher has not given me an official release date as of yet.
In the meantime, I would like to invite everyone to get a taste of some shorts and a few snippets here and there. Bear in mind that THE GIRL WITH THE SCAR is written from the point of view of Genevieve Solace, a fifteen year-old sheltered girl in the southern planes of Kalarn.

A new and incompetent governor has been named the head of the Polarist Region, and Broughtonhaven is at risk of being Dominated by these cold-blooded neighbors to the northwest.
The Spiritualists plummet into darkness as they struggle to defend themselves from their invaders.
The Alpha Council has refused to intervene, while Caleb, Sarai, and the Pioneers fear for the fate of the mainland. They must discover how to empower the Spiritualists if they hope to keep Broughtonhaven from crumbling.

Back to the agent stuff.
One thing that many agents will request is your synopsis.
Why o’ why must they ask for more work? I surely don’t know. I suppose they assume that a well-written synopsis indicates a well-written book. Perhaps.
