WHITE WOLF SHORT

So, THE GIRL WITH THE SCAR is set to be released soon, though my publisher has not given me an official release date as of yet.

In the meantime, I would like to invite everyone to get a taste of some shorts and a few snippets here and there. Bear in mind that THE GIRL WITH THE SCAR is written from the point of view of Genevieve Solace, a fifteen year-old sheltered girl in the southern planes of Kalarn.

The White Wolf is a $ 0.99 short story that introduces one of the novel’s main characters as he is set to make his move to find the one whom he has been searching. Enjoy!

THE BOOK 2 BRIDGE

HOW TO MAKE BOOK 2 WORTHWHILE

Free Digital Photos

The book 2 bridge is not a good thing. It’s a literary abortion. It’s the middle child of writing. Book 2 is just a bust, just like a squashed tomato.

Many people who set out to write a trilogy make the mistake of viewing book 2 as a connection book, a book that bridges book 1 to book 3. We don’t admit it, because facing the reality is too harsh.

Instead we view book 2 as a way to show characterization and to explore more of the world that we’ve created. Continue reading

FINISH THE SERIES??

HOW TO DECIDE IF YOU SHOULD WRITE ONE BOOK OR FINISH THE SERIES

Should you write the first book and then try to publish, or should you write the entire series first?

This question is a lot more challenging to answer than it seems. I chose to write the entire trilogy before I submitted to publishers. Continue reading

CONSTRUCTING THE THREE

HOW TO THINK “TRILOGY”

Free Digital Photos

If you are going to go ahead and write the series after considering the advantages and the disadvantages, then think about the premise, the overarching idea of the trilogy itself.

I will say that a series that doesn’t have an overarching premise is doomed to fail. There needs to be something that connects the books together besides the characters. Continue reading

WHY NOT TO WRITE A SERIES

HOW TO DECIDE NOT TO WRITE A SERIES

Free Digital Photos

The last post explained why I enjoy writing trilogies. This post will explain the disadvantages.

I refer to it as the curse of the trilogy. Many people feel locked into a trilogy, especially if you feel that there is enough for two novels, but not really for three.

The curse of the trilogy is the invisible hand that makes you try to squeeze the juices out of an apple that has already been juiced. Continue reading

WHY WRITE A SERIES

HOW TO DETERMINE IF YOU WANT TO WRITE A SERIES

Free Digital Photos

I would like to take a few posts to discuss the elements of composing a series of any kind.

I say of “any kind” because we are all aware of the trilogy, but there are always sagas and epics and adventures, and blah, blah, blah.

This is just my advice from my experience, as some people may and will disagree. Continue reading
